In the Little English House, we nurture and support the children. All of our topics end in a target-task. With this, the children can demonstrate their acquired knowledge. It is very important to us that our students do not only learn single words and vocabulary but are also able to produce chunks and whole sentences. Even the youngest students are able to produce sentences in English, if we as the teachers provide them with opportunities to use the language authentically and meaningful. To achieve this goal, we use the Task-Based-Language-Learning method.

In big classes of 25 children and more noise, disturbances and the lack of concentration can prevail quickly. The children feel often unseen. Therefore, it is important in the Little English House that the children are taught in small groups of only 7 students or less. In these small groups the teacher adjust to every single student's interests and needs. 
Where children are heard, they speak freely and from the heart. Small groups allow children to feel safe and comfortable. Furthermore, the teachers are part of the group as well so children can confide in them.

It is important to us that the chidren feel neither overwhelmed nor unchallenged. Therefore, our language learning groups are not only sorted by age but also by their individual level of language proficiency. 
Our goal is not only to teach the skills of listening and speaking but for schoolkids also to learn reading and writing in English. That's why our materials and resources as well as our specially designed workbooks, for children aged 7 and above, aim at obtaining the written skills.

Our teachers are examined regularly to improve and adapt our methods to today's needs and standards. Our workbooks were developed affectionately and appropriately. On the one hand the topics follow the curriculum of the respective country and state and on the other hand suit individual group of learner's needs and interests. 
Furthermore, all teachers from all Little English Houses are in constant exchange so new ideas and developments can be incorporated. It is also important to us to integrate and involve the children. Our students can create their own games such as Memory and also take home their materials, games and resources to intensify their knowledge at home as well.
Our methods are scientifically proven to work successfully acquiring a foreign language. Influenced by the Task-Based-Language-Learning approach adapted from Prof. Dr. Marita Schocker (Pädagogische Hochschule Freiburg) or the Total-Physical-Response methode by James Asher, the Little English House approach achieves our students coming into our classes with pleasure and also keenly take part in the lessons.

We want the children to acquire the foreign language as authentic and natural als possible. This means, to acquire language that is used by children their age in English speaking countries. This is why we use authentic songs, chants, rhymes, as well as story and picture books. 
Materials and resources that were only designed to teach English as a foreign language can bore the children and teach language that is not useful for them. We want our students to learn language they are interested in - only this way they will want to actually use it.
